Maggio Castiglionese
May is the month of awakening from the winter torpor. In the countryside you can breathe the air of spring while the village fills with music, scents and colors.

This is what happens every year in Castiglion Fiorentino, when the town transforms into a large open-air stage.
The “Maggio Castiglionese” is not just a calendar of events – it’s an experience. It’s how the village tells its own story, blending tradition and innovation, welcoming visitors with the warmth of a local festival and the elegance of a small Tuscan gem. Every year in Castiglion Fiorentino, the month of May becomes a celebration bursting with color.
Over four weeks, a wide variety of events take place: from art exhibitions to the trade fair and the agri-food fair, from celebrations for San Michele – the patron saint of Castiglion Fiorentino – to sports competitions and races. The first village festivals and neighborhood feasts begin in preparation for the June Palio: the blue-and-white Medieval Festival of the Cassero, the Medieval Banquet of Porta Fiorentina, and Vicolo DiVino organized by Porta Romana.
New for 2025 is the "Primi di Maggio" food festival, a true culinary village where eight iconic pasta dishes come to life thanks to the skill of local restaurants from the town’s natural shopping center, in collaboration with a team of chefs and Pasta Toscana.
Another highly anticipated event is the Valdichiana Wine Festival, now in its third edition. It offers a unique opportunity to taste the finest local wines along with some national excellences, all in the charming setting of the Cloister of San Francesco.
May 8th will be the day of the celebrations for San Michele, the Patron Saint of Castiglion Fiorentino.
Photography enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Castiglion Fiorentino Photo Fest, an open space for both established and emerging photographers, aiming to promote and give visibility to their projects, and to spread photographic culture to a wide audience.
An invitation to experience the village, not just to visit it
What we want to offer you is time. Time to get lost in the narrow streets, to taste something delicious without rushing, to hear a story told by someone who was born here. To watch the sunset from the Cassero terrace as the town lights up with colors, sounds, and voices. Whether you come for a weekend or stay the whole week, you’ll always find something to do, see, or experience.
The “Maggio Castiglionese” has a long-standing tradition, and as such, it has become an unmissable event for both young and old.
